One of Britain’s most skilful impressionist watercolourists, Trevor Lingard was born in Accrington, Lancashire in 1952. He is primarily self-taught having had no formal training and has been painting for over 30 years, finally turning professional in 2005. Trevor’s work shows the skill that comes from decades of practice and a fundamental understanding of the properties of the paint and the surfaces that he uses.

With a rare ability to convey all the atmosphere of a scene with just a few well-placed brush strokes, Trevor Lingard’s paintings have a fluid, refreshing, spontaneous quality and are characterised by economy of detail and a limited colour palette.

Influenced by the purity and apparent simplicity of post war English artists Edward Seago and Sir William Russell, Trevor Lingard has more recently come to admire the work of Trevor Chamberlain, John Yardley and Ken Howard.

Trevor Lingard’s subject matter varies from architectural to figurative scenes and leaves much to the imagination evoking memories of a bygone era. Well established both nationally and internationally, his works are recognised for their unique and distinctive style.
