John Trickett

John Trickett is considered to be one of the finest Labrador painters in the world. He has won the silver medal in the International Animal Painters competition in France and the Franklin Mint of America has published several of his paintings on limited edition plates. In 1996 John Trickett was featured in an article on leading dog artists in Gundogs magazine.

John Trickett’s exceptional ability is not limited to painting dogs – he also paints shooting scenes and landscapes. He had no formal training in art but is a natural colourist with a great eye for composition and a feel for atmosphere. John Trickett usually paints in oils on canvas.

Many limited edition prints have been published after his work and have rapidly become collector’s items. John Trickett has collectors all over the world and his works hang in America, Japan Australia and many European countries. John Trickett’s illustrated book “Reflections of the Countryside” was published in 2008.

Roadworks

If approaching the gallery from Penrith or the M6 heading East on the A66 there is a major diversion in place to the gallery via Motherby. Instead of this we would recommend taking the first turning right to Newbiggin shortly after the Rheged roundabout, follow the road through the village and then turn left as you come out of the village. Follow the road up the hill past the recycling centre and turn right at the bend where you will see our brown tourist board sign, follow the lane and signs to the gallery. Altenatively take B5288 from Penrith to Greystoke turning left left to the gallery less than a quarter of a mile out of Greystoke.

Otherwise please follow the diversion signs on the A66 - they will successfully get you here but it will take 10 minutes longer.
