Peter Coulthard

Peter Coulthard has exhibited his work continuously at Beckstones Art Gallery for some twenty years and has numerous avid collectors. Born in Yorkshire in 1949, Peter grew up on a Pennine Hill Farm on the edge of the Peak District. He attended Art College and began painting in his early twenties, becoming a full-time professional artist around 1980. His upbringing in the Pennine countryside and his outdoor working life have given him a deep knowledge and understanding of nature and the elements, and his paintings show high levels of technical ability, skill and quality. These qualities, together with his clever use of light, his draughtsmanship skills, a keen eye for detail and a fine sense of atmosphere combine to create a standard of work of the very highest calibre. He paints in oils on canvas and his dramatic landscapes usually feature his favourite Lake District scenes. His paintings are in many important collections in several countries around the world.
