| Hilary Scoffield exhibited continuously with Beckstones Art Gallery for almost twenty years. Hilary Scoffield was born in Essex in 1958 and from an early age showed a keen interest in art, much encouraged by her mother who was also an established artist. After leaving school, Hilary Scoffield attended Art College, but decided after a year however, not to pursue a career in commercial art imagining it to be too restrictive and preferring to pursue her painting alongside a career. However, following successful exhibitions and a steadily increasing demand for her work, Hilary Scoffield became a full-time professional artist in 1980. Hilary Scoffield had a passion for Victorian watercolours of the Helen Allingham and Silvester Stannard genre and tried to capture their romantic feel in her own works. She painted using watercolour and gouache and her paintings have a timeless quality and a feeling of tranquillity. | ||||||
