Richard Prime was born in Derbyshire and has drawn and painted from a young age. After graduating as a graphic designer, Richard worked in the print industry, but regularly painted in his spare time. He paints in gouache, pastel or oil, the medium he chooses largely depending on the subject matter. For more detailed work he uses gouache, but for a softer feel he uses pastel or oil depending on the size of the painting. Of his wildlife work Richard says: ‘I prefer to concentrate on nature close-up, to capture the feeling and the environment. I’m not after a photo-realistic representation, but a looser style with texture, and I hope my work delivers this.’ Richard loves the countryside and wildlife. His work is ‘inspired by nature’ and when he is not painting he loves to be out in the countryside watching the wildlife. Richard also loves to paint dogs and horses. Examples of his work are in various notable collections in the UK, Canada and USA. |
