| Loes Agoust has been a constant exhibitor at Beckstones Art Gallery for almost 25 years during which time she has developed a large and dedicated following. Loes was born in 1940 and is of mainly Flemish descent. Loes Agoust has lived and worked in France, Turkey, Ireland and Greece, but has resided in the United Kingdom for many years. She has had a deep interest in painting since she was a little girl and has painted varied subject matter, mainly in oils, but always returned to her favourite theme of flowers and garden. Loes Agoust paints mainly scenes and flowers that she has grown in her own garden. Her former garden she developed herself from rough scrub land. It covered some 4½ acres, featuring the rose garden, the gravel garden, the arch garden, the bog garden, the white garden, the long cool walk and the hazel walk. Her garden is the love of her life and the inspiration for her painting. When Loes Agoust is not gardening, she paints, and when she is not painting, she gardens. She has few distractions, choosing not to have a television nor take a newspaper, listening only to the “wireless”. Loes Agoust works tirelessly, often till midnight, but regards it as a labour of love. For company she has chosen to spend much of her time with her dogs and cats. Loes Agoust has painted for much of her life, mainly in oils, and her work is much sought after by collectors in many countries. Her work is both fresh and refreshing and her bold style and vibrant colours give it a Victorian feel and a year-round feeling of summer. A published author and multi -talented, Loes Agoust is an unusually private person, avoiding the limelight and shunning publicity, valuing her anonymity above all else. | ||||||
