Ian Parker
Ian Parker has been a constant exhibitor at Beckstones Art Gallery for more than twenty years during which time a significant proportion of his work has passed through this gallery and helped him build his large reputation and following. Born in Durham in 1955, Ian Parker attended school in Yorkshire before studying art at Shoreditch College and for many years has lived and worked as a professional artist here in the Lake District with his family. He specialises in still life oil paintings, and he achieves an exceptionally high standard of realistic detail and precision in the finest traditions of this genre of oil painting. Ian Parker has exhibited with the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and many times at the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibitions between 1983 and 2007. Examples of Ian Parker’s work can be found in many important collections around the world including those of Lonrho Textiles, Courtaulds Textiles and Tate & Lyle. Ian Parker has also been featured on the BBC’s Review of the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, and he has been commissioned by Kensington Palace to paint for Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana.
